Keith Barnsley's photo

Born in 1942, Keith grew up in a small mining community in West Yorkshire. He studied at Wakefield College of Art and Brighton College of Art and went on to gain a masters at the Royal College of Art in 1967.

Moving to Sheffield in 1968, he took up a post lecturing in fine art and printmaking at Sheffield College of Art, now Sheffield Hallam University. He retired in 1997 and continued to paint full time.

Inspired by the landscape of the Peak District situated to the west of Sheffield, Keith's work is a reaction and response to the elements generated within it, including topographical changes made by nature and man.

His work has been exhibited at The Royal Academy and galleries throughout the UK, Europe and Canada
and America.

Keith died on 19th June 2015.
